What is a vakalatnama and what is it named in English ? Is it required to be stamped in accordance to article 48 and 52 of the India Stamp Act and is it required to be registered in accordance with Indian Registration Act.
The assistance is greatly appreciated.
The Vakalatnama is the official document which lawyers submit in the court of law when they represent anybody i.e. client. It is also known as Vakilpatra in regional language. The Vakalatnama has to be duly signed by the client and indentified & accpeted by the Advocate. It is not required to be stamped and registered under Indian Stamp Act and Registration Act respectively. For more details, you can contact me. Regards, Adv. Ram Kunwar, 0.
