legal question I work at a government department in Chennai. About 10 months back, I had fight with my wife and we didn't speak for days. I was living alone in Chennai any wife was at hometown. I felt lonely. I thought of looking for someone I could talk to, and get emotional support. I couldn't get any such person nearby.
So I made a profile on matrimonial site and even obtained premium membership. I got few responses as well. I was clear about it that I only wanted to have friendly conversation and no meeting or any physical relationship ever. I knew that I would have to hide my marital status and lie about it. I did the same.
I made 2-3 friends and though they insisted on early marriage I kept delaying such requests but continued to have regular conversation over phone. I did both text chat and also audio and video calls.
Everything was going fine and I thought nothing was wrong about it.
Gradually my relationship with the wife improved but the conversation with the online friends continued. If anyone of them insisted to meet, I made excuses and never made anyone. If any of them insisted on early marriage, I asked them to look for other options.
Honestly, I didn't had any deep emotional bonding but good friends with whom I discussed my problems and listened to theirs.
But the events took wrong turn when one of the ladies came to know through my friend that I was married.
She kept this fact hidden from me and kept talking as usual. After few days she said that her father was seriously ill and needed to be operated upon. She asked me for monetary help. I declined politely. But she kept insisting and said her father's life was at stake. She sent father's pic from the hospital. She sent at least 500 whatsapp messages requesting to give money and that she would return it later. She even cried on video call saying that her father was everything for her and her life would be ruined if anything happened to him. I melted down and agreed to give 10000 on the condition that she gave me her Aadhar card pic on whatsapp so that I could trace her later in case of non payment.
She gave me the Aadhar card picture. I felt satisfied and sent her 10000 rupees.
After 3 days she told me that her father expired and that she did not feel like talking to anyone. I did not disturb her for a month. A month later I asked how she was. She told that her maternal grandfather has also expired and that she needed isolation for longer time. 2 more months passed. Then I asked her to pay my money back as I needed it. She started reacting violently and threatened to call all my realtives and tell everyone that I am trying to cheat others. She also threatened to file a police case.

Point worth noting is that all these threats started coming only after I asked my money back.
I would like to know that can she file FIR against me. I have never tried to cheat her or have met her but only lied about my marital status.
Please advise if I can get my money back by legal means. Thanks
