legal question Can an agent be prosecuted for signing a cheque for and on behalf of his employer who is the account holder? I am not the account holder and only an employee. The company has got serious dispute with the payee regarding liability as well. Now I have received a lawyer's notice from the payee. I am at Ekm and the payee company is in Mumbai. Can I file a counter case against the payee Co.

legal answer from lawyer E00303568no.. You cannot file any counter but you can defend your case by denying facts of notice.

legal answer from lawyer E00300306Then you have immediately respond to the legal notice received and build up a case that you have not issued the cheque and there is no legal enforceable debt payable by you.
