The Supreme Court on Friday directed all Covid hospitals in the country to allow a serving (helper) with a corona patient to remain in the hospital premises. Also, the court asked all the states including Delhi to install CCTV cameras in all Covid hospitals. A bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice MR Shah took suo motu cognizance of the problems being faced by patients in Delhi. "On the wish of the corona patient, the hospital administration will have to allow one of its tenants to stay in the hospital," the bench said. However, the Timardar will have to stay at the location decided by the hospital. The court has also asked all hospitals to create a help desk so that people can get information about patients.
Apart from this, the bench has directed all the states to form a committee of doctors and experts, which will monitor the treatment of patients in Corona Hospital, Will inspect hospitals and give necessary instructions. The Expert Committee of Delhi has been asked to inspect hospitals at least once a week. The bench also asked the central government to fix a reasonable rate for corona investigation and other facilities in all states and union territories. The court has issued appropriate instructions to the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Disaster Management Act, asking all states and union territories to adopt an equally revised discharge policy.
The bench expressed displeasure over the fact that the Maharashtra government was not sharing the Corona positive report to Corona patients or their relatives. The bench has asked the state government to submit the corona report. The bench said, every organization, every person should be ready to know about deficiencies and shortcomings. After knowing the deficiencies and flaws, remedial action can be taken.
